Intelligent Software for Ubiquitous Computing
نویسنده
چکیده
You propably remember that agents was a buzzword in the popular computer science press about five years ago. Now, the commotion has almost silenced. Experience has proven that the some of the visions invented in the craze are diffucult to implement in reality, and people do not want their work to be associated with any of these broken promises. However, I believe that the idea behind agents has not been burried away. The heritige of agents can be seen today as an emergence of intelligent autonomous software and software components. This paper tries to capture the current status of these intelligent systems, and how they are related with ubiquitous computing, another buzzword per se. As practical examples, I will show a popular in-car personal agent, the software of a space probe, an agent for augmented perception, and a computer game. The two main future challenges are to make software event more smart, and to enhance the level of agent-agent and agent-human interaction.

These days, the most important areas of research in many different applications, with different tools, are focused on how to get awareness. One of the serious applications is the awareness of the behavior and activities of patients. The importance is due to the need of ubiquitous medical care for individuals. That the doctor knows the patient's physical condition, sometimes is very important. O...
متن کاملA Middleware for Intelligent Environments and the Internet of Things
Interdisciplinary research from the domains of pervasive computing or ubiquitous computing, computer-human-interaction and computer science has led to the development of many intelligent environments, either on lab scale or as live in laboratories. While several middleware have been developed in this field, no standard middleware for intelligent environments or ubiquitous computing has evolved ...
متن کاملRapid prototyping and evaluation of intelligent environments using immersive video
A major problem in developing ubiquitous computing applications is the simulation of the required infrastructure and the environment in which they are to be deployed. Developers have to rely on either low-fidelity techniques (such as paper prototypes and mental walk-throughs) or simply wait for a full scale deployment. Similarly, even where an existing infrastructure exists preliminary evaluati...
متن کاملHybrid Intelligent Systems in Ubiquitous Computing
Now ubiquitous computing, ambient intelligence and smart cooperative objects are viewed as a major paradigms shift from conventional desktop application development. This view is enabled through the use of diverse hardware (sensors, user devices, computing infrastructure etc.) and software, anticipating user needs and acting on their behalf in a proactive manner (Weiser, 1991; Satyanarayanan, 2...
متن کاملTowards on embedded agent model for Android mobiles
This paper presents, a new agent model “specially” designed for the new Android Google SDK, where the Android mobile phone can be considered as a software agent. This agent model has an approach more practical than theoretical because it uses abstractions which makes possible its implementation on differents systems. The appearance of Android as an open system based on Linux has created new exp...
